come to me

before my bones get old and feeble

before my eyes die out and shut me in

come while the sun is high in the sky

before darkness swallows me

before night comes to claim me

come while the candle is still burning

before it dies and hope fades

run to me while you still have strength in you

before your knees give out and

you have no one to run to

here I am waiting for you

standing here looking for you

won't you come to me, my love?

  1. ambs, didn't know you wrote poetry. This is not bad - a little depressing though. You're too hard on yourself, methinks. Be upbeat and positive and not one but a dozen true loves will come flocking to you :P

  2. I wrote this a couple of nights ago, it was a spur of the moment/ inspirational/eureka kind of things that pops into your head and you just have to write it down. I don't know if this even qualifies as poetry, and I definitely didn't intend to sound depressing. But well, sometimes you just can't help it.

  3. I'm coming! I'm coming!
Wait no more, for I am nearly there,
Wait no less, for I am already there.

The candle will not burn out,
for the heat in the wick comes from us.

I may have nobody else to run to,
